Used Tires in Upper Marlboro, MD
Not every tire problem is a four-tire problem. Sometimes you picked up a sidewall puncture on the way to work, the tire is done, and the other three have plenty of life left in them — and nobody wants to buy a set of four to fix one. Or maybe the budget just isn’t there for new right now and you need something safe to get you through the next few months. That’s what our used stock is for. We keep inspected used tires in a wide range of sizes, we measure the tread before we sell you anything, and we tell you the number out loud. If it isn’t safe, we won’t put it on your car.
Used stock changes daily, which is why there’s no fixed size list on this page. Call with your size and we’ll tell you in a minute what’s on the rack right now — and if we don’t have it, we’ll tell you that too, rather than sell you the wrong size to close a sale.
What a used tire costs here
Used pricing depends on the size and on how much tread is left, which is why we sell in bands rather than a fixed price list. Two tires in the same size can land in different bands if one has noticeably more life left than the other — that’s the tread reading talking, not a random markup. These are the bands we sell in; the exact number depends on what’s on the rack the day you come in.
Economy
14–16 inch passenger
Lowest band
Road-legal tread, plenty of life for a spare, a short-term fix, or a car you’re only keeping a little longer.
Standard
15–18 inch passenger and crossover
Mid band
The bulk of our stock — solid tread, and matched pairs are often available if you only need two.
Truck & SUV
16–20 inch truck, SUV and LT
Higher band
Heavier construction and load-rated, priced accordingly — still a clear step down from a new set.
Near-new
Any size, well above minimum tread
Highest band
Takeoffs and low-mileage tires that still carry most of their original life, at a fraction of new-tire price.
Every band includes mounting and balancing. Call (240) 304-2968 with your size for today’s actual price.
How we inspect every used tire
A used tire is only worth buying if somebody looked at it properly first. Here’s exactly what we do before one goes on the rack — and before it goes on your car.
1. Tread depth, measured
We put a gauge on it, in three places across the tread, and we tell you the number. A new tire starts around 10/32″, so you’ll always know roughly what share of the life is left.
Worn down near the legal minimum doesn't get sold as a road tire — no exceptions for a tire that looks fine from a distance.
2. Sidewall and bead
We check both sidewalls for bulges, cuts, cracking and scuffing, and we check the bead for damage from a bad prior mount.
A bulge is a separated belt and it’s an instant reject — no exceptions, no discount version of that tire.
3. Inside the tire
We break the bead and look inside. That's where a tire tells the truth: old plug jobs, liner damage, evidence it was run flat.
Anything run flat is scrapped, however good the tread looks from outside.
4. Age and date code
Every tire has a four-digit DOT date code — the week and year it was built. Rubber ages whether or not it’s used, so a low-mileage tire isn’t automatically a young one.
We won't sell you something too old to trust, regardless of how good the tread depth looks.
5. Pressure-tested
It goes on the machine, gets inflated, and gets checked for leaks at the bead and through the tread.
It holds pressure or it doesn't go on your car.
Five steps, every tire, every time. If one fails, it doesn’t get a lower price — it gets scrapped.
What’s included
A used tire priced here isn’t just cheaper — it comes with the same shop-floor service as a new one.
Mounted and balanced
Same as a new tire. The price you agree on is fitted to your wheel and balanced on the machine before you drive off.
We take the old one
Leave your old tire with us when the new-to-you one goes on — one less thing to figure out on your own.
A straight answer on tread
You'll be told the measured depth before you pay, not after, so you know exactly what you're getting for the price.
Is buying a used tire safe?
It’s the right question, and the honest answer is: it depends entirely on who inspected it. Here’s ours.
Sizes we usually have
Used stock moves daily, so treat this as what we usually carry rather than a live inventory list of what’s on the rack this minute. What comes in depends on what customers trade in and what turns up on take-off wheel sets, so the exact sizes shift from week to week even though the general pattern below stays fairly consistent. Call with the size off your sidewall and you’ll have an answer in a minute — no need to guess from a list.
Car sizes
The 15- to 18-inch passenger and crossover range turns over fastest in used stock and is the most likely to be in on any given day.
Truck & SUV sizes
The 16- to 20-inch truck, SUV and LT range comes and goes with what gets traded in — call and we’ll tell you what’s on hand.
EV sizes
The 19- and 21-inch low-profile sizes are the hardest to find used, and we'll usually tell you honestly that new is the realistic option.
Cheap used tires, without the gamble
“Cheap used tires” usually means a rack behind a building, no gauge, no inspection, and a tire that’s somebody’s guess. That’s not what this is. Our prices are low because the tire already did its first life somewhere else — not because we skipped the part where somebody checks it. You get a measured tread depth, a tire that was inspected inside and out, mounting and balancing included, and a straight answer about how long it’s likely to last. That’s the difference between cheap and just risky.
It’s also why we can sell used tires at all. A shop that doesn’t inspect what comes in can’t tell a genuinely road-worthy tire from one that only looks fine, so the honest move for them is either to not sell used tires or to sell all of it and hope. We’d rather turn away the tires that don’t pass than pass that risk on to you.
When a new set is the better buy
We’d rather tell you this up front than have you find out in six months. Used is the right call for one tire, a matched pair, a spare, or a car you won’t keep long. It stops making sense once you’re replacing all four on a car you plan to drive for years. If that’s where you are, buy new. A wholesale set of four starts at $325 for car sizes, $396 for truck and SUV, with mounting, balancing and a 50,000-mile warranty — and per mile of tread, that beats four used tires almost every time.
And if it’s the number that’s the problem rather than the decision: we work with Snap Finance and Acima, so a set of four can be paid over time. Ask when you call. See our full new tire options.
